Goodbye to Digital Licence+ and Media Literacy Lab
At the end of Term 2, two of our eSmart platforms are being replaced with new and improved resources. We explain what’s happening and why, and how to save your data before the switch happens.
The eSmart School Analysis Tool (eSAT) is now one year old, and many Victorian schools have already used it to take a more informed, strategic approach to digital citizenship and online safety.
Last year, many schools completed the eSAT and met with their eSmart Schools Advisors to unpack their results. These conversations helped schools understand what was working well, identify priority areas for growth, and use their data to guide their eSmart journey for the year ahead.
For many, eSAT results directly informed the development or refinement of their ePlan, ensuring actions were targeted, purposeful and aligned to school needs.
The eSAT is deliberately aligned to the two focus areas of the eSmart Schools Framework. By completing the 30 minute questionnaire, schools receive feedback across:
Unit 1
Positive Digital Cultures – reflecting on the policies, procedures and practices that support a safe, inclusive and positive digital environment.
Unit 2
Positive Digital Practices – assessing the effectiveness of digital citizenship education and how well students are being equipped with the knowledge and skills to engage responsibly online.
Together, these focus areas provide a balanced snapshot of both the systems that support online safety and the teaching and learning practices that embed it across the school.
New to the eSAT?
For schools yet to complete the eSAT, this year presents a valuable opportunity. The tool provides a clear evidence base to help guide your eSmart journey for 2026, prioritise areas of focus, and ensure your ePlan reflects your current context. The process is most effective when completed collaboratively with leadership, wellbeing and key staff.
For second year eSAT Schools!
For schools completing the eSAT for the second year in a row, this year’s report offers even greater insight. Your 2026 results will be compared with your 2025 data, allowing you to see whether strong areas have been maintained, targeted focus areas have improved, or previously strong practices may have declined due to reduced attention. This comparison supports meaningful reflection and helps keep eSmart work embedded and sustainable over time.
Once your eSAT is complete, the results can be used to update or amend your ePlan and set clear goals aligned to both Positive Digital Cultures and Positive Digital Practices. Your eSmart Schools Advisor is available to support you to interpret your data and translate findings into practical next steps.
To complete this year’s eSAT, log in to your school’s eSmart Portal and click the eSAT tab along the top of the screen.
