Our Executive team leads our passionate staff and volunteers to uphold the rights of children and young people to be safe.

Sarah Davies AM, Chief Executive Officer 

Sarah has had a broad and wide-ranging career from executive roles in tertiary education in Australia to private sector consulting in HR, marketing and strategy in Australia, Europe and the Middle East. For the last 15 years her focus has been exclusively in the charity and for-purpose sector in social change. She joined the Alannah & Madeline Foundation as the CEO in March 2021.

In additional to her professional roles, Sarah also serves on several diverse Boards and committees. Her current community roles include Deputy Chair of Teach for Australia, Deputy Chair of the National Museum of Australia and Director of Social Ventures Australia. She is also an Adjunct Professor at Swinburne University of Technology and has recently been appointed Chair of the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) Advisory Board.

Suzanne Hammond, Executive Manager

Suzanne has more than 30 years’ experience in support roles for Executive Management Teams and Boards and has been working with the Foundation since 2012. Suzanne’s extensive experience has included roles within healthcare, tourism, large publicly listed organisations and the not-for-profit sector.

Within her role at the Foundation, Suzanne leads our governance, internal policy, and administrative functions. She brings a wealth of knowledge to her role and is passionate about helping all children to thrive.

Scott Gordon, Chief Operating Officer

Scott is an experienced chartered accountant and motivated leader who is passionate about making NGO dollars go further and creating high-performing organisations in the not-for-profit sector.

Scott has experience leading major cross-functional business projects, strategic planning, budget management and team building. He joined the Foundation so he could use his experience to make a difference in the lives of children.

Ariana Kurzeme, Director, Policy & Prevention 

Ariana leads our policy and advocacy, program design, impact and evaluation, and digital citizenship programs. She and her team are driving system-level change and influencing public policy to improve outcomes for children and young people.

Ariana has extensive experience in stakeholder engagement and developing collaborative and mutually beneficial partnerships, and is passionate about ensuring that the needs, wishes and experience of children and young people is at the core of the Foundation’s work.

Amy Johnston, Director, Development & Communications 

Amy is a fundraising and communications professional with 20 years of experience across the not-for-profit, health and research and education sectors.

Amy is responsible for connecting our wonderful supporters and the wider community with the work of the Alannah & Madeline Foundation so that together we can help children and young people to live free from violence and trauma.

Lee Cameron, Director, Trauma-informed Programs

As a social worker with more than 30 years of experience working with children, young people and their families, Lee is committed to cutting edge service provision and changing the way we address some of our more complex social problems.

Lee is currently focused on the delivery of programs which aim to improve the outcomes of children and families experiencing significant vulnerability and trauma, and has instigated many programs to help keep children safe from the effects of violence.
